    Montclair State University Athletics

    The Montclair State red hawks compete in the New Jersey Athletic Conference of the NCAA. Intercollegiate sports include football, baseball, softball, field hockey, volleyball, swimming, wrestling, track, and men’s and women’s soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. There is also a non-varsity program in ice hockey. Most recently Montclair State reclassified the sports of men’s and women’s cross country, men’s lacrosse, women’s tennis, and wrestling from varsity sports to club sports, due to a lack of sufficient human and fiscal resources. This move was made to insure the ongoing integrity and efficiency of the University’s other varsity sports programs.

    Montclair State athletic facilities include the 1,200-seat Panzer Gymnasium and arena, the Red Hawk Tennis Courts, the 3,400-seat Yogi Berra stadium (home to both Red Hawks baseball and the New Jersey Jackals Northern League team), and the 6,000-seat Sprague Field that hosts football and soccer games.

    Montclair State University offers numerous sports to its students. These include cross-country, football, soccer, track and field, basketball, swimming and diving, wrestling, and lacrosse for men, and cross-country, field hockey, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, basketball, track and field, softball, and lacrosse for women. There is also non-varsity ice hockey. The team nickname is the Red Hawks.

    The Red Hawks compete in the NCAA Division III in the New Jersey athletic Conference. There are over 400 student athletes. The team has won national championships in baseball, and has had a number of numerous individual champions. Montclair State University participates in a global missions program where athletic teams travel overseas.

    Athletic facilities include a gymnasium, a pool, tennis courts, a baseball stadium, a field, a softball stadium, and a soccer park. The baseball stadium, Yogi Berra stadium, is also the home field for the minor league New Jersey Jackals of the Northern League.

    A golf classic is hosted annually by Red Hawk State University Athletics.
